It’s the weekend and we want to play!
Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, Florida provides a heavenly stage on the St. John’s River. It’s a place for musicians, dancers, performances, and more … as the community surrounds and supports their local talent.
Again, I believe where there are hearts, smiles, laughter, and open minds that listen and honor …. that we have Ceremony at its best.
Saturday, I felt just that way again, when I was invited to create percussion magic for the acoustic guitar and the flute of my two friends, Linda and David Shilby, in their band – Acoustic Flutations. Along with Roc Nowacki on bass, we laid our hearts and sounds on the Main Stage overlooking the River. We were Roc (Bass) and Rol (drum roll – me) The breeze from the stormy front kept us cooled off on this warm August day in Florida. The wind sang and we sang, and at one point, the seagulls swarmed and joined in …. blown in from a gust of mother nature’s applause.
Mother Nature loves it when we appreciate her element and her ALTAR … and we did. We were able to share our passions with others, we were able to delight their minds, bodies, and spirits as we took them on a journey back to the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Nothing like music and rhythm to do the trick and allow for a moment of respite from everyday challenges.
Each time we perform or share our love of music and song, it is a sustenance ceremony of support and love for our audience.
Thank you all for being there … Thank you Gary Becca and Roy Peak for the stage and the sound …
Thank you all for your smiles and applause … Thank you all!
Until we meet again … remember to play, remember to have fun and mark your passages and life events.
