‘Wonder’ Women

Who Am I? Said I, to Me.

and What do I want to Be?

I want a place to call my own

A place that I can be alone.

A place where others can stop by

And sit and chat and ponder, ‘Why?’

Why do this? Why do that?

Or simply, chill out, .. and relax.

Yet, conjure we do, and with nature’s force

Design our lives and stay the course.

We are goddesses of many traits

Mix, match, and then, magically create.

The maiden, the mother, the Queen, and the crone too

Surrounded by each other, wondering ‘Who?’

Who we are? Where we’re going?

When will it stop? This constant Unknowing?

Waiting to see. Waiting to hear.

That blessed voice, saying

‘You’re near,

You’re near.

All Guided by a Divine light

These firestorms of energy swarm the night

With ideas and visions filling the sky

Waiting to manifest, By and By.

Ivory Tower – Written July 2, 2013 …. by Marilyn A Wilsona low day for me…the date of my father’s birthday
that we still celebrate even though he passed 6 years ago in 2007.
A little memory of the things that hold us back from
creating and living our lives while we have the gift of life…much like my father lived his life as an example of living, loving, and passing it on.
Maybe even a little encouragement!
I wrote this with a heartbeat drum rhythm and wrote it as I sang it…I had not written anything down; it was born as I played and sang.  Thank goodness for digital recorders.
I am hoping to put a few guitar licks to it and then I’ll share the vocal recording.  Singing isn’t a strong suit of mine, but it is the way I communicate and express my story at times when writing isn’t enough.

Received chords on a guitar tuned to Open G…..

Ivory Tower rolls out very slow, deep, and rooted in realization.

Quiet is the morning
After the noise of the night
When my neighbor’s son
wanted to start a fight

Through the bushes he came
At the beat of my drum
Like a frantic madman he was,
I hollered, ‘Frank, help, please quickly come.’

‘Stop!’ He screamed, ‘stop that sound
We’ve told you before to stop beating around
I’ll call security and they’ll see what we’ve found,
Then you’ll surely stop that pound, pound, pound.’

Such cussing and threats, I’ve not heard in a while
Frank stood his ground, but there was no denial
‘This man was crazy and we must act now
With no delay, 911 I quickly dialed.’

They came, they saw, they understood
But reality is, I live in ‘the hood’
Of mean folks, and very nasty broods
And those with something deep they need to prove.

So, today, my drum sits quiet and alone
No tune, no beat, no rhythm, no song
Seems the old man got his way
But like dad always said, where there’s a will, there’s a way!’

DRUMMING ADDICTION

Many say it is an addiction
And I believe it is true
It flows over your skin
Like the moist morning dew.

Creeping into each pore
Seeking mainlines and more
Infusing with the memory
Of those who came before.

It pulls us to futures, to pasts
And heavens above
We drift on the rhythms
And feel the pure love.

We sway and we move
Like never before
Simple and easy
Floating and wanting more

A desire, a passion
A need, a drug.
An escape, a vacation,
A meditation like hug.

Oh, drum beats surround me
Take me with you as you fly
Across the lands and ocean
Where grace and wonder lie.

No food do I need, no drink,
no care.
An addiction I have
I do and I dare!

Ode – The  Glory CirclekYu_SwWgwc0amqsmiW7KyRcm2KunvQDQfEIS658qYqYd_s0LkXaqeMtGEhLV4VgzxN7TNg=s124

Inhale the power of the feminine
Absorb her glory and her might
Honor her story and royal presence
As you stand tall in her midst tonight.

As her energy pours from your fingertips
And you breathe her spirit light
Feel her in your fullness
Burning brightly in the night!

Throw your head back and gaze in honor
See the whirling faces of the women before
Their hair is sparse, straight, wavy or curly
And their bodies are full, thin, or curvy galore

Dotting the whirling spiral
As decorations on a holiday tree
They connect in a glory circle
Of those, before you and me.

Around, under, above, and beyond
We are supported as we stand
Together, joined, and united
Holding hearts and holding hands.

I stand at the bottom, dizzy as I gaze
At the radiating energy all around me in a blaze.
The ancestors are watching and calling to me
To follow the path of the The Glory Circle and praise.

THEY CHANT IN A HARMONY OF SONG:
“You are the woman we’ve been waiting for – all along.”

‘Our wisdom is your wisdom
Our gentleness, your way
Our experiences, your experience
And, in love, for you, we appear today.’

Inhale our energy and hold precious our gift
Of girl-hearts, mother-love, and as sisters who forgive.
Know always that we feel you, we see you, and we hear
Your enchanting melody drawing others very near.

You are strong and you are mighty
A warrior of women, with little rest
You are a symbol of what is real and now
And today, you are at your best.

One day you will join the glory circle
Where our minds and spirits are one
When our hearts and love signify the feminine
Leading others powerfully in their woman song.

As for now, you may be still a while,
Stand grounded, sturdy, and tall
Exhale in your radiance
And praise power to us all!

ODE TO THE ‘OTHER WOMAN’images-7

i cringe when i hear her name
i recoil when i picture her face
i spin in furry when i imagine her voice
spilling into the mind and heart of the man – my man.

i boil when i think of the energy
Being taken to deny the look
The energy to dismiss the quickness
needed to avoid the thought

to make me happy
to honor the vow
he looks away and pretends
that he doesn’t see the woman
doesn’t see her now

now we all know about our minds
the wiring involved
to avoid a thought, impossible
to avoid increases the probable

It becomes the only thing we think
the trickery the dilemma
involved in this mystery
of destruction to the couple

i must stop discussing
I must work it out
it is my issue
not his to fume about

how will i be able
to ignore the truth
that daily and hourly
together are the two

sharing information
sharing ideas
locked in the dilemma
that work ensures

pretend it isn’t happening
pretend you are not touched
by the sexual, sensual magic
for the woman he must lust

i don’t want your sweet embraces
to placate my tumbled mind
i don’t want your honorable mentions
to soothe me over time
i don’t need to hear you say it – that isn’t what i want
i’m not a child that needs attention
i’m a wife that is giving up

i do not compete with others
it causes nothing but wrath
she wants in, well let her
you can’t stop the stories path

you fiddled, and danced at ‘go.’
not realizing the pull of the tune
now the rhythm is cautioned
to quiet, but to this beat you are not immune.

the rumble, the lyrics are bubbling
and to the surface they will come
when the watchful eye of the boiling pot
tires — she will say goodbye.

A Mighty Female

I am a mighty female
Unfolded and unveiled

I speak with courage and strength
Confident in who I am

I sense my journey is not over
I remap my plan each year.

A Mighty 60 Female

Loving the 60’s, the “I Will’ 60’s
Where I am a mighty force to reckon with

No need to beg, to plead, to manipulate
So that I am heard, seen, and honored.

With courage I stand in my circle of joy
I listen, I speak, and I see myself
No need to say ‘No.’
No need to rebel

No need to have a battle of wills to win the war

I develop my own strategy and life plan

I begin my journey alone

I do not need you with me anymore
I know where I am going

If you like, you may join me
You may watch and listen
You may even learn

I am a full life force
Standing straight and tall
With the sun on my face
And gentle wind as my guide

I am bold, I am glorious, I am magnificent

I flow with radiant energy
I will not fade away
I will lite the path of women who follow
Fearless Females and mighty too.

You Think – I See

images-2

You think you are starting in a new direction
I see a clear path walked

You think your choices lacked conscious thought
I see choice made intuitively

You think years were lost while searching
I see lessons learned providing great wisdom

You think you failed in marriage after marriage
I see an open and trusting heart

You think your children suffered in dysfunction
I see survival of the fittest and a love bond for sure

You think you’ll never find yourself
I see you standing strong and wise

You think I am not watching
I see you – I see you –I see you.
